Your Great Aunt dies and somehow your garage inherits most of the contents of her house. Odd bits of furniture, knives, forks and spoons, pictures from her walls, with very unattractive frames. Winters coming and now there is no where for you to park your car.

The attachment to your dead relative has superseded the fact that quite possibly you will be shovelling your car out of the snow at 5:30am in the mornings, to get to work on time.

No one really knows why you are keeping all her stuff, it just seemed like the right thing to do.It is all covered up with tarps, heaven forbid her stuff might get covered in dust. No one else in the family was interested in any of the ancestral hand-me-downs, so there it all sits, in the your garage, all covered up, like it is waiting for something.

Ten years go by, your still shovelling your car out of the snow in the winter time at some ungodly hour in the morning to get to work on time. Great Aunt Matilda’s things are still in your garage. The only thing that has changed is the amount of dust that lies on the tarps.

One day, as your attempting to remove the snow from your car, you pull your back out.
Finally, a sign from the Universe!! (At least that is what the Editor of this blog is hoping you will see it as).

All of those years you protected and concealed that pile of ‘stuff’ in your garage, WHY? We humans are programmed to attach ourselves to material belongings. Does your paraphernalia really define who you are?

I hope you said no! Spiritual transformation helps us to let go of old beliefs. Removing your Ego from the external world of things, enables us to discover what is really inside of ourselves, the Soul of who we are.

When you become more aligned with ‘you’, material things mean less and less. The Spirit of who we are lives on and on, your Great Aunt will never be forgotten, the stuff in your garage that belonged to her is just taking up valuable space.

If you can’t use it, then perhaps donate it to someone else that will get the pleasure out of it. There will be a unique person out there somewhere looking for pieces of art in unappealing frames. Don’t allow stuff of any kind, material or otherwise to weight you down from moving forward in your life’s journey.

If there is a decision that you need to make to help you evolve your Soul, then work at detaching yourself from that person, place or thing. Holding onto something that the Universe is trying to tell us is outdated, will only create suffering.

Ego creates suffering for us. It is our Ego that keeps us trapped in repetitive, monotonous, tiresome dialogue, because Ego hates change. Don’t get caught up in the fear of letting go, work on releasing the heaviness that is holding you back from moving forward on your path of life.

When you are able to make the decision to move on, your mind will become quiet.
